Nakeesa (she/her) is a registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She completed her Bachelor of Psychology and went on to complete her Master of Social Work at the University of Calgary. In addition to her formal education, she has pursued further training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and has extensive experience providing both individual and group DBT to young adults.
Nakeesa has experience working with diverse populations, including young adults (16–29), 2SLGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities. She specializes in supporting individuals experiencing borderline personality disorder, anxiety and depression, emotional dysregulation, interpersonal and relational challenges, self-esteem and confidence concerns, grief and loss, stress management, identity exploration, and adjustment to college life or Canadian culture. She also works with clients navigating the impacts of colonial trauma.
Nakeesa strives to create a space of warmth, validation, curiosity, and non-judgment. She welcomes collaboration, feedback, and laughter in sessions, and is passionate about helping clients feel understood, supported, and empowered in creating meaningful change in their lives. In her spare time, Nakeesa enjoys going on long walks with her dog and making simple, easy recipes.
